Getting Involved

As the world’s largest volunteer-based NFP organisation, Big Brothers Big Sisters is always looking to continue growing its volunteer base. Without the critical work of volunteer mentors and other volunteer staff, Big Brothers Big Sisters is unable to deliver mentoring programs to young people across Australia.

There are many ways for people of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels to get involved. If you’re unable to commit to a 12-month mentoring match, skills-based volunteering in our office or providing support at our key events, this is a great alternative. If you would like to volunteer with us, please get in touch via email at support@bbbsau.org and outline skills you have to assist our organisation.

Join Our Team Mentor

Working alongside the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program Co-ordinator, I have been amazed to see the huge difference mentors make to the lives of young people. By just showing up and chatting to each other every week for one hour, mentors and young people slowly get to know each other. They chat, play games, share stories and videos and play music together. It is wonderful to see how a small amount of time can make a huge difference to their lives. I find it very rewarding to volunteer with a program coordinator as I get to see the impact all the mentors are making and it is huge.

Skilled Volunteer

I worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters Australia as an employee of Capgemini, who provided their expertise in implementing a Customer Relationship Management system. The project was challenging and interesting; but more importantly, it was personally fulfilling. It is obvious how much the staff and other volunteers care for the cause, and how much of a difference they are making. Of course, the best part was how friendly everyone involved is, and how helpful they were.
