Bail Out Gundagai, NSW
29 May 2026 – a unique experience raising funds to mentor young people.
The Bail Out event is designed to raise awareness of the complex realities many young people face, including trauma, disadvantage, and pathways that can lead to youth detention.
In Australia, it costs on average $3,365 per day to keep a young person in detention, compared to just $9.78 a day to provide a young person with a trained mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Here’s how it works:
- Register: SIGN UP HERE as a team or brave it on your own, and commit to raising at least $1000 bail for your ‘release’.
- Experience Jail life: be stripped of your possessions, given a prison uniform, fingerprinted, photographed, and fed prison gruel in the exercise yard.
- Mock Interrogation: face an interrogation before being sentenced to cell time with your gang or in solitary confinement!!
But it’s not all daunting! At 9pm, you’ll break out for a party with delicious, non-prison food and drinks. Sign up below or contact Emma for more details, [email protected].
