Our Global Network

Mentoring Around the World

Big Brothers Big Sisters Australia is part of the world’s largest volunteer-supported mentoring network that has been operating across the globe for more than a century – with the help of dedicated volunteers, donors and advocates just like you.

Big Brothers Big Sisters began in 1904 in the United States of America, introducing a unique style of one-to-one mentoring to help support children and adolescents reach their potential.

In 1998, an organisation called Big Brothers Big Sisters International was established to assist interested countries in setting up their own programmes. To-date, Big Brothers Big Sisters Australia has been operating for 40 years and continues to support young people in need of a positive adult role model in their lives. Young people across the globe face many different challenges, but the positive impact of a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring relationship has been demonstrated across cultures.
